KODOKU - 孤独

A log of games I played and what I thought.

I don't even know if I'll keep this spot around.

Morrowind

I first played this game last year and ended up dropping it, but after coming back into it with a new build and a different mindset I ended up not dropping it this time. Easily a top 10 game for me, one of the greatest of all time even after over 20 years, and one of the best RPGs ever made. I feel like that gif of Danny Devito saying "I get it now" after beating it. This is a master class in videogame writing and storytelling. There is no crevice or cranny that is not in this game for a reason. Everywhere I went I found something worthwhile or cool. I truly felt like an adventurer in a way no other game has done for me before. The way you scale and overcome challenges is fantastic. Everything is so damn good. This game is a masterpiece. It's hard to put into words just how amazing I think this game is.

Skyrim - Nolvus modpack

I spent about a week playing Skyrim with a massive modpack called Nolvus that completely changes the game. It plays more like an action game, with Souls-inspired combat and a normal XP system based on exploration, kills, and questing. It was a very interesting experience. My first character peaked after about 30 hours played. I could crouch in front of people stabbing their shins and they wouldn't notice my presence as I had stacked far too many stealth bonuses.
My second character was an orc blacksmith who used heavy armor and a sword/shield combo. The shields are pretty janky and not always useful, especially modded ones. They aren't held correctly. This 2nd playthrough was a lot buggier and I had over 5 crashes, losing a lot of progress. My first playthrough was almost bug-free. It kind of put me off the game, that and the XP level cap on the new system. Even with all settings maxed out there was a certain cap on your skill level to your total level, for power scaling reasons. I don't care tbh, let me power scale if I want to you idiotic mod maker. It's a single player game, who cares? Anyway I stopped playing after crashes became more common.
Not a waste of time, and it is a really neat modpack, but I just stopped enjoying it. I don't think I will uninstall it yet, just in case.
